madrigals

Madrigals is the premier vocal ensemble at Nickerson High School. Membership is by audition only, and the ensemble is kept to a small, balanced number to ensure quality and blend. This group meets on alternating days for both semesters, and students must commit to a full year, in addition to purchasing formal concert attire.
In addition to all Music Department concerts, Madrigals performances have included appearances at the Kansas State Fair, church functions, civic clubs and community events, Christmas at the Reno County Courthouse, Wichita State University, Friends University's SING IT Choral Festival, Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theatre in Branson, MO (opening for Legends in Concert), and the 2017 KMEA In-Service Workshop at Century II in Wichita. In June of 2018, Madrigals performed on stage at Carnegie Hall under the baton of composer/conductor Francisco Nuñez. Madrigals also performs at League, Regional, and State Solo and Ensemble Festivals.
Madrigals repertoire includes pop tunes, vocal jazz, and choral music for the fall; light-hearted and serious Christmas music, challenging selections for festival; and a more contemporary lineup for the Final Concert. To schedule an outside performance, please visit our Contact Page.
