MEET THE DIRECTOR

Scott Logan, B.A., M.M.
Scott Logan joined the USD 309 Music Faculty in 2012, where he directs the Reno Valley Middle School Choir and the Nickerson High School Women’s Choir, Concert Choir, and Madrigals. In addition to choral directing, he teaches courses in Music Theory, directs the annual Fall Musical, teaches private voice and piano lessons, and accompanies vocal and instrumental students for Festivals. Before teaching in USD 309, Logan taught 6-12 Vocal Music in Pratt USD 382 for three years and served in vocational worship ministry in Illinois and Missouri for six years before that. He earned the Bachelor of Arts in Music (piano) from Brewton-Parker College, Mount Vernon, GA and the Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Missouri State University, studying under Dr. Guy Webb. He is a member of NAfME/KMEA, ACDA/KCDA, KNEA, and KEEN.

Logan's choirs and vocal soloists consistently receive Superior ratings at League, Regional, and State Festivals.  Under his direction, NHS Madrigals has appeared on stage at Legends in Concert in Branson, MO, Friends University, Wichita State University, the 2017 KMEA In-Service Workshop, annually at the Kansas State Fair, and at Carnegie Hall in June 2018 under the baton of composer/conductor Francisco Nuñez. Logan has served as an adjudicator for festivals in Western and South Central Kansas and appeared as organist for Dan Forrest's Requiem for the Living, presented in Sterling, KS in October 2017 with musicians from Nickerson, Lyons, Sterling, and Kansas Wesleyan University. The NHS Class of 2018 selected him as their Teacher of the Year, and USD 309 named him 2019 Secondary Teacher of the Year. In June 2019, the Reno Choral Society featured Logan as their guest conductor for their annual Salute to America​ concert.

Scott and his wife Angie live in Hutchinson with their four children and are very active in the life and ministry of Crossroads Christian Church.
